Turkey Data Monitor is not just a database; keeping track of economic developments is simple, understandable and you will be up to date. It was designed this way.
About the Program
Tables and charts containing macro data
Brief comments, analysis and presentations about economic developments and data
Basic global indicators that affect Turkey, various charts that help to read Turkey from a global perspective
TDM provides reliable, timely and easy access to data and is useful for anyone who wants to gain insight, comment or analyze the Turkish economy.
Turkey Data Monitor obtains thousands of series and hundreds of tables at different frequencies from their main sources and presents them to you as raw data tables, processed series, analytical comparative tables and graphs.
Thanks to the automatic updating in the background, tables or graphs are always up-to-date. Thus, TDM automates the laborious and error-prone data updating, table and graph preparation process that normally takes analysts dozens of hours every month.
With Turkey Data Monitor, you can make various transformations of the thousands of series provided by the program as well as any series you create yourself, and have them automatically updated whenever new data is announced. With MS Excel integration, your Excel files are automatically updated in the background.
Turkey Data Monitor was established more than 15 years ago as Turkey's first data portal in macroeconomics. Over the years, as an employer, it became and continues to be the “school” for many analysts and economists currently working in reputable institutions. The core team is as follows:
After graduating from Boğaziçi University, Murat obtained his PhD at Boston College and worked as an economist at the International Finance Institute (IIF), Credit Suisse and the International Monetary Fund (IMF). He held senior advisory positions at the Central Bank of Turkey and the Turkish Treasury. He has been the Global Source economic advisor for Turkey for over 20 years. Based on his experiences he felt the need for a Turkey specific user friendly database and co-founded Turkey Data Monitor. He is also a part-time faculty member of Koç University and has published various studies on the Turkish economy.
Following his history studies at Boğaziçi Üniversity, Daryo completed a doctorate in anthropology at ColumbiavUniversity. He became interested in personal computers, which were in their infancy at the time, and in their applications to social science and history. When he returned to Turkey, he continued to develop software, especially working on educational applications, learning, evaluation and curriculum design. He co-founded Turkey Data Monitor, developing its software for over fifteen years. He also teaches part-time at Boğaziçi University on semiology, cultural practices and media.
Derya graduated from Galatasaray University, Department of Economics. She joined the Global Source Türkiye team in 2006. She has been working at Turkey Data Monitor since its establishment. Currently, as a senior economist, she is responsible for monitoring the global and local agenda, relations with users, data management and developing the content of Turkey Data Monitor.
Seray graduated from Izmir University of Economics, Department of Foreign Trade and Economics. She has been working as a senior economist at Turkey Data Monitor for more than 12 years. She is also responsible for Turkey Data Monitor's training, marketing, data management and customer relations areas.
The first thing I do when I turn on my computer in the morning is to run TDM. Thanks to this, monitoring the economy closely went from a burden to a pleasure.
TDM is a very comprehensive data tool to analyze Türkiye’s economy and markets, I can say as a user since 2008. Linking my spreadsheets with TDM enables me to update the spreadsheets easily. Tables, charts and presentations prepared by the TDM team as well as comments by the team and many economists working in the finance sector and academia enrich the content further.
TDM is a sine-qua-non analytical tool and Turkey-specific one-stop data outlet (perhaps a unique one in the country) that enables analysts to access and electronically process all key macro and sectoral data including socio-economic indicators published by various public and private institutions. Furthermore, a well-selected rich collection and daily release of analytical reports and data commentaries keep those monitoring Turkish economy closely up-to-date.
TDM is a useful resource that increases your research speed by presenting data on many economic variables in a single source and allowing you to quickly get ideas with graphs. It also makes it easier for you to follow current articles.
Turkey Data Monitor is a resource that I use frequently, not only when preparing reports, presentations and columns about the Turkish economy, but also in other areas. I also benefit from it almost every day regarding our family business in the tourism industry. Due to its ease of use and richness of data, it has become one of the sources that I most want to have at hand and that I use most frequently.
As a market economist, my job deals mostly with data and figures, but keeping each data series up to date through different channels requires serious effort. TDM does this job for us and makes our job much easier in this sense. The fact that it not only presents raw data, but also many processed data series and ready-made graphics provides a significant added value. Apart from data, I also benefit greatly from the reports and articles shared from various sources. In summary, I can say that TDM has been a very important assistant and even an indispensable tool in my work.
TDM is a must. Thanks to TDM, updating my own data sets has become very easy. Thank you for your efforts.
TDM, which contains significant improvements over its previous version, is very useful in my work, by providing access to studies and data that are not readily available elsewhere. They also cover a wide spectrum. Useful trainings are organized to teach the operations required to select and perform calculations on data sets.
TDM gathers all the macroeconomic data I need under one platform. It is versatile. It has a thoughtful yet easy-to-use design, whether you're using it just to browse data, analyze a large data set, or feed your own database. The most important thing is to be confident that there is a professional and always reachable team standing by you.
Turkey Data Monitor (TDM) is a product we have been using at iRes for the last ten years. It is a great application that presents you all macroeconomic data in an organized manner and as soon data is published. In addition, the TDM team provides you with the analyzes prepared by its economists, templates, reports of industry leaders, news, and international comparative data. The team is service oriented and just a phone call away when you need it. TDM is a product that allows us to do our job easily and error-free. We are very pleased.
TDM is a platform where I can access all data regarding the Turkish economy in bulk. The level of detail of the data satisfies me greatly. It not only offers easy access to data, but is also an ideal platform for creating your own graphs and tables. It keeps these tables and graphs in its memory and updates them constantly. Additionally, many tables and graphs are available for you to use. One of the features I like about TDM is that it contains many current comments and analyzes.
In this dynamic market where data-oriented work is more essential and information pollution is more intense by the day, Turkey Data Monitor (TDM) is an economist's indispensable tool. TDM, with its reliance on state of the art technology, is a great source of efficiency with its flexible structure suitable for creating new content and the capacity to create automatically updated Excel files, as well as turning stacks of data into meaningful graphs and tables. Today, there is no source that offers as much data and processed information on the Turkish economy, together with global data that will affect the country's economy, in one place, in useful formats, in an organized manner.
I think I am one of the oldest Turkey Data Monitor users.
From the very beginning, it has been one of my most
important tools, allowing me to access historical data in
a reliable and very easy way, mainly by sector or subject
headings of the Turkish economy.
With its data structure that allows for different analyzes and comparisons, as well as its advanced graphics preparation capabilities, it offers very practical solutions for both projections and their transfer to presentations.
Whether you follow the economy with a 'small staff of one' like me or with large teams, you will be able to have an efficient assistant when you consider the opportunities TDM offers and its reasonable cost.
As part of our job, we follow and analyze a wide range of data about the Turkish economy and use it in policy design. It is in this endeavor that our paths crossed with TDM many years ago. Thanks to TDM's user-friendly interface and easy access to data, our workflow processes have speeded up. TDM's renewed interface also offers great convenience to users. I congratulate TDM and its entire team for providing such an opportunity to data-driven individuals and providing an important infrastructure for the data-based policy design process.
I use Turkey Data Monitor every day. TDM is a great resource for accessing current data and ready-made tables and figures that can be used in presentations and reports. But beyond that, it is a platform that brings articles, reports and presentations on Turkey and the world economy to my computer screen. That's why TDM is an indispensable resource for me.
Turkey Data Monitor (TDM) has a very rich database on
Turkey and the world economy. The processed and
comparative tables and graphs produced from these raw data
originating from many different sources include nearly all
calculations used in analysis, thereby significantly
speeding up the work of the users.
The TDM team has an extremely sensitive and professional approach to data accuracy, which is as important as speed for people working in the information world.
The Library section of the program serves an important filtering function in a world where developments move very quickly and provides significant time savings in accessing information as well as macro data. In summary, TDM adds efficiency to our work by providing rapid access to accurate data and information regarding the Turkish and world economy.
Since 2020, Turkey Data Monitor allows me to prepare graphs and tables quickly and easily by collecting data from a single source instead of having to search all sources one by one, thus making it easier for me to make more accurate analyzes and presentations. Another positive aspect of TDM is that I can access the comments of the economists I follow. I tell my economist friends working in other institutions to use TDM at every opportunity.
TDM is my go-to source for economic data and access to current commentary. In my opinion, the most useful feature is that data published by different sources can be accessed quickly and in the same format on a single platform. Tables and graphical presentations of data are done very professionally. Additionally, it is very easy to obtain data through tables and graphs or by creating defined Excel files. The database is quite rich and all the public data I am interested in can be accessed via TDM. In this respect, having a single source to access data provides significant advantages in terms of both data consistency and time savings. In addition, it would be unfair to define TDM as just a data access program. Another important feature of TDM is that it provides access to important official reports, market analyzes and expert opinions quickly and from a single source.
In an age where time is insufficient and information flows quickly, TDM is indispensable for any economist who studies the Turkish economy and follows the world. The expert staff behind it makes itself felt in every detail on every page. When you do not waste time collecting and compiling data, efficiency increases. I can't imagine working without TDM.
I have been using TDM very intensively for about eight years. As an academician, I benefit greatly from TDM in my lectures, presentations, research, and interpretation of current economic developments. TDM, which has been providing this opportunity for years, has adopted a much easier, comprehensive and attractive format with its new version. It is very convenient to be able to access all kinds of historical data about the Turkish economy from a single source. Graphs and tables very quickly provide the data that common users ask and seek. The program makes it very easy to do any analysis you want with historical data and to find correlations and make comparisons. Likewise, being able to access opinions, articles, publications and reports on Turkey and the World economy from a single source saves time and prevents you from missing any opinion. I believe that providing access to TDM to the relevant units of all businesses in the real sector and finance sector will greatly contribute to their productivity.
I find TDM very useful for quickly accessing data about the Turkish economy and analyzing this data. I also find it very useful to be able to compare the data sets I am interested in historically with the feature of updating templates.
